Faranah — One of the largest parks in West Africa: forests and savannahs protected around the Niger River and its tributary to the Mafu, classified Ramsar sites.
The park is divided into two classified forests — Mafu (55,400 ha, 1997) and Kouya (67,400 ha, 1997) — on the border with the Faranah and Kankan regions; it has been classified as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO since 2002. Its stages also tell the history of the country: Sidakoro and the remains of its tata of the time of Almamy Samory Touré, Foya and its bee colony "Kè Woulen", the Woyomba beach on the river, in Bakaria.
